Use of CFD and surrogate models to predict properties in technical textiles for the enhancement of human thermal comfort

This thesis explores the use of CFD simulations combined with surrogate modelling techniques to predict key transport properties in technical textiles. The goal is to support the design of fabrics that improve human thermal comfort by accurately modeling heat, air, and moisture transfer at multiple scales.

CFD modelling of Phase Change Materials for sleeping bags

This thesis focuses on developing CFD models to analyse the thermal behaviour of Phase Change Materials integrated into sleeping bags. The work aims to evaluate heat storage and release mechanisms, identify optimal PCM configurations, and improve thermal performance in cold environments.

Thermal Comfort Evaluation of Outdoor Sleeping Bags

This thesis focuses on the experimental assessment of the thermal performance of outdoor sleeping bags. Laboratory tests will be conducted to evaluate thermal insulation and comfort under different environmental conditions. The results will contribute to a better understanding of the factors affecting thermal comfort during outdoor sleep.

Experimental Evaluation of Moisture Management in Technical Textiles

This thesis aims to investigate the moisture management properties of technical textiles using a Moisture Management Tester (MMT). Experimental measurements will be performed to evaluate liquid transport, absorption, and drying behavior of different fabrics. The study will support the development of high-performance textiles for sports and outdoor applications.
