Climatic Chamber
The climatic chamber of the Comfort Lab is a controlled-environment facility designed to study thermal comfort and physiological responses during physical activity under different environmental conditions.
With a volume of 56 m³, it can operate within a temperature range of –40°C to +50°C and a relative humidity range of 20–90%, allowing for precise simulation of both hot and cold climates.
The chamber is equipped with:
a movable ventilation unit capable of generating airflows up to 50 km/h to reproduce wind exposure;
treadmill, fit-bike, and cycle ergometer for testing during controlled physical effort;
advanced monitoring instruments, including a thermo-camera, wireless temperature and humidity sensors, a heart rate monitor, lactate measurement, and a portable metabolic measurement system.
A dedicated dressing and clothing testing area supports the evaluation of garments and equipment, enabling researchers to assess heat and moisture transfer, energy expenditure, and overall comfort under realistic yet fully controlled conditions.
